Ah the precious door glitch. Don't ever go away. It's really helpful for getting through anywhere except Ruins at a nice low level.
As for the Mechgun glitch... yes, that is odd... other guns do the same thing, but they come basically instantly and from your side... not a second or two later and from who knows where.
The tech through door trick is also nice, I once used Zonde with my force to take out all the enemies in a room from behind the door so I would survive... took awhile, but it worked nicely... I then promptly slaughtered the Gol Dragon.
