By the way, don't use the Rare thing. It's an horrible example. They only recently made a decent title since the switch to the XBOX. Plus, people don't have to get the old school nintendo games, they choose to thus proving that Nintendo in fact does know exactly what it is doing. It appears people only think Nintendo makes rehashes of old games only now. Yes they use old franchises, but they make brand new titles. If you don't want one of their re-makes, simply don't buy it. Just because a game doesn't have noticeable vilence [ie. blood and gore], doesn't mean its for a five year old. Think about it most five year olds can't even beat these video games, so it isn't completely aimed at them. Saying an eight or ten year old would be more reasonable.
Edit: By the way, FYI, the XBOX was, or still is in debt from every XBOX made, Nintendo wasn't that bad.
I'm not saying, nor is anyone else, that if a game doesn't have blood and gore that it's a kid game. However, when odd, musical noises are made whenever a sword hits something (Wind Waker), or the main character has a giant red nose (Pikmin), or there is no real plotline (Pokemon), that it's a kid game. Ever play any of the Need for Speed titles? No blood. No gore. All racing. No plumbers. That is an example of a non-kid game that has absolutely NO blood and gore.

Um.... THEY ALREADY GOT -YOU- YOUNG. Why would nintendo use these exact same tactics when we were kids, then use them again and say "Bah, the heck with you."? Either they have no clue what kind of tactics they are using and messed up by continuously giving us some obviously gay plumber over and over and over and over. Why would they hook the generation of the mid-80's and abandon them now? And even if there is a good reason, don't you feel betrayed by nintendo? Are you really so brainwashed that you can see this?
I'm sick and tired of all this propaganda bullsh*t from Nintendo. Because you are all fanboys and girls, or fanboys and girls in denial (*ahem* mdbrim2004), you defend a company not worth defending and throw away your real voice. There's a phrase for what nintendo has been doing by "Hooking'em young". It's called "Cigarette tactics". That's the same tactic the cigarette companies used during the 60's. Amazing how they model themselves after companies that benefit from people's deaths. Nintendo is a cult.
Back to the BS on hand, the DS. It sucks. OK? End of story. Wait about a month or two and the PSP will cost the same if not less than DS. Like Helios said, more than 6 hours at a time is NOT necesary. As for innovative and uniqueness about the DS... It's got a pen, ok? There are two screens. One for writing, and one for looking at. And like Helios also mentioned, DS was made for that sole gimmick, the stylus, yet only about 1/3 of the games use it. The only kind of games that have a future on DS are 1st persons and cursor games. And that's not enough of the gaming market to keep it alive, and even if it was, Nintendo hates 3rd party support. It's true. The president said it himself that he does not support 3rd party games targeted only at GC, unless it is made by Sega. This means there will be one 1st person shooter on DS, Metroid. That also means DS will flop.
Also, those who say just because it continues selling units and games that it has not flopped yet are ignorant. Dreamcast sold games and units to the very end, and even now they sell in collector's and game shops. Just because it sells doesn't mean it hasn't flopped.
EDIT: BTW, 5-year-old posting above me, you triple-posted. That's a no no in the big people world
