You could just deposit one into the check room and take it out when you get in-game. FSOD isn't as much of a problem then, esepcially if you made your own game, or if the game is PW protected, or if it's full, or if you have that FSOD firewall going.

For the TEN MILLION AND SEVENTH TIME, I do NOT bank items because it wastes time, makes otherwise-unnecesary saves to your memory card, and most importantly, it does NOT protect against random FSODs. Backing up covers everything, and if you keep your backups on another memcard like I do, it even covers corruption loss (of those items, anyway).
