Yep, I was doing double figure damage with my spells, and Deband didn't help and it took me like all my fluids just to kill one Bartle. As for melee, it was "miss" all the way, and that's after taking quite a lot of Hit mats too. It was back- to- very- hard- mode- until- you- can- kill- enough- ultimate- forest- creatures- to- find- that- Red- Handgun time. Luckily the Red Handgun isn't too rare... Gosh, that was a terrible experience! You can't say Version 2 Ultimate Mode is easy when you're a soloist.

well my 3 red handguns help me alot
forest is easy (can pass the zones and the boss without getting hit)
caves easy (sometimes i pass without getting hit)
mines a bit painfull
ruins ....i like doing ruins but the boss is no joke. thats why i rarely do ruins
i'm lvl 172
the red weapons are the miracle on ultimate.
