Right, yet more links for you guys (again, SPOILER ALERT):
In PSIV, in the Wreckage, Rika tells us that several ships escaped from Palma in AW1284 when it was destroyed when the Gaila Prison Satellite crashed into it. One of these ships later crashed on Motavia, and two of these (the Alisa III and the Neo Palm) are dealt with in PSIII.
However, Rika also tells us that at least ten other ships left the system. This would explain the presence of Numans/Newmans on Coral, and other early links (such as legendary weapons).
Also, in the final Kranz/Kylria cutscene in Ep3, Kylria says that the person who controlled the Germ would "even get the power to take over our home planet, Coral, itself."
