Tut tut tut, I think you need to learn more about what is considered an angle in wrestling. I believe the wrestler dieing stunts you are refering to are all around the Undertaker, who has supposedly been killed on PPV about 3 times - but to anyone watching, you would be hard pressed to see it as anything other than a stunt to impress the audience.

The only other onscreen death was that of the Canadian wrestler, Owen Hart. He was acting out the a stunt, he was to swoop down from the rafters on a cable as part of his "Blue Bazer" cheesy superhero gimmick. A miscommunication resulted in Owen plunging from the top of the arena onto one of theturnbuckles. He sustained serious chest injuries and drowned in his own blood infront of an arena of fans who initialy thought it was a stunt until the ring flooded with trainers, actual medical staff and anyone else with access to the ringside area. I remember watching the PPV, although I got to see nothing as I was watching it on TV, there was no spin. To quote the announcer Jim Ross, "Owen Hart has been seriously hurt, this is not a story line, this is not an angle."

Eddie Gurrero died cleaning his teeth on Sunday morning, suggesting that his death was instantanious. He was found by his nephew, Chavo Gurrero. Although he had been clean of recreational drugs and alcohol for 3-4 years, his past caught up with him. Also, a lot of wrestlers consume a lot of prescription painkillers, you can't get thrown around by a 250 pound man every other night and just carry on as normal. One specialist likened being a wrestler and getting slammed as the equivilant of being in a car crash at 20kmph - you do the math.

Those of us who love wrestling, and could care less about it being scripted, have lost one of the shining stars. Eddie wasn't a 300 pound hulk of muscle with no personality and three manuvers (kick and punch being 2 of them), he was one of the lighter guys who could actually act and also carry a less able wrestler. At No Way Out 2004 he won the WWE title from Brock Lesner, without making his roided out superheavyweight opponant look any the lesss a dominant force than he had been pushed as for the last x months. He knew how to make a match work and displayed the talent and in-ring psychology that could turn a non-event card filling match into something far better. But before I wander into a sickeningly saccharin hyperbole, he also had his fair share of matches that will be forgotten. But for those of us who really love wrestling outside of just the WWE, he will join the likes of Curt "Mr Perfect" Henning, Owen "The Blue Blazer" Hart and Chris "Body Donna Skip" Candido, as another wrestler taken too early.

Too lighten the note, I wish Triple H would pop his clogs. He's just a broken down, plodding shortcut wrestler - not the solid wrestler who toughed it out with Cactus Jack, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock that he once was. Mind you, Triple H screwed his body up by becoming obssessed with Steroids which knackered his body quicker than normal.
