hehehe... it is funny about this, because I don't think it is mentioned in the manual.
Hold B down when you start up the GC. You should now get a menu to display in 60Hz. Select Yes and if the picture is fine, you can now connect to all the ships, and recieve a much need frame rate boost. I think you'll notice the difference immediatly. Americans and Japanese use 60Hz (or more) as standard. Some Europeans still use 50Hz, and the two are not compatable. So a ship was created for the poor 50Hz Europeans.
You only need to hold B down once on startup, unless you go back to 50Hz for some reason :p
