I think there are more than 8 personalities, yes, Faulkie. And I'm not saying that the ones default in your game will be alike, however, when you go online, and a neighbor is planning to move out, they'll move to the next person's town that you come into contact with. I am sure that in some cases this leads to the same personality of two characters. I think there is about 15 personalities in the game. Multiply that by the amount of characters that you can have as neighbors, and I believe you should get about 200. Then again, I don't know how many different characters you can get, so it may be less than that.
