Anyway, Isn't Ramarl supposed to be the solo character? I would see the point in backup players if a party had like, slots for four players and two reserved only for backup characters (six slots in all).
But, at the moment I find the best backup is actually, you know, MORE hunters. Or support players (forces). The ranger seems a bit jack of all trades to me. If I wanted someone to get a monster off my butt I'd rather it was someone with a giant sword than a three shot rifle or whatever that doesnt do that much damage anyway.
Besides, many rooms in PSO are so small and chock-a'-block full of enemies it kinda eliminates the need for real rangers. Playing hunter/fo I find my self saving the rangers asses more often then actually getting this so called 'back up firepower' that I need.
Maybe that's just because all the rangers I have played with are total n00bs, I don't know...
