Yeah, I couldn't imagine this game being split-screen. The PS2 game (X360 version as well, perhaps ?) already has major camera issues as reported at E3, imagine having half the screen to rotate cameras angles to see if there are any enemies around - tricky.
No, there isn't any chance of that. This isn't PSO where we need multiple versions of the game for new content. PSU's systems are much more capable of holding all sorts of new content (which means no v3 PSU), thus, no split-screen.
