yeah, it gets very annoying after missing it a few times, but if you beat the Mines and go into that room with the blocked door, you can tell which areas you didn't hit the pillars in. the three symbols on the door correspond to the colors of the symbols on the pillars in the 2 forest, cave and mine areas.
