Of course, I have more important things to Sphere first. The Vises are way down on the list, but they are on it.
Edit: Yay, I did some in-game testing... (not a calculator!)
The best way I had to measure a weapon's range was to creep forward to get a green target on a box, then count the walking paces.
Slicer: 11 paces to target, 9 after attacking because you step forward.
Needle: 9 paces to target, 9 after attacking
Shot: 15 paces to target, 15 after attacking
Pantsaregood also did some calculations about the damage on a Charge Laser vs. an S-Rank would do on their own. Basically, a character with 0 base ATP. (Rappy slot item, anyone?)
A Laser has 50 ATA and 260 ATP; the S-Rank has 60 ATA and 450 ATP.
50h Charge Laser:
Normal: 47
Heavy: 89
Special: 156
Beserk S-Rank:
Normal: 81
Heavy: 153
Special: 269
50h Charge Laser, Sphered:
Normal: 94
Heavy: 178
Special: 301
So, if you are crazy enough to actually Sphere a Charge Laser, it beats a S-Rank in both accuracy and damage.
Max Attack mastering in Normal mode takes under 15 hours to do in Normal, and getting the Charge Laser would not be hard to do. EP1CM takes atleast 10 hours once you include getting the people together to do the stages, disconnects, failures, etc. Then there are 220 Grinders required, and 40 PD's to add Beserk... Harder to get too.
Edit 2: In case you had not noticed, this thread got off topic when Kefka said the 9-star shots were "very good weapons" after I did not include them in a list of "notable" weapons you can get, though I did mention the shots in my post. IMO, they are just not good, and they are easily out performed... Now Kefka is saying that Slicers are by far the best in the game. >_>
Too legit to quit.
