Interesting point for a petition. I don't really see what effect it'll have on English & Japanese playing together, it worked well on Gamecube, Japanese played on JP servers and English played on them all, and no-one was harmed!
The reason for it though is because Sonic Team of Japan don't really want us to see what we're missing out on by not being Japanese. It also allows them to host Japanese-only competitions where players can win loads of amazing prizes (Including in the past, but not limited too mp3 players, bikes and even TV's!) - Why would we want to win such amazing stuff? Nah, i wanna win downloadable wallpapers! Allllright
