Cranberry accidentally bumped into a few people in her rush towards sector 7G, she was sure she was going to be the last one there. Sato had the easy route, merely gliding over everyone’s heads while keeping close to Cranberry. There better be a long rest before we have another task, because this one’s going to use up whatever strength I have left.
After several minutes of jogging throughout the streets of Pioneer 2, Cranberry reached the familiar lab where sector 7G was located. Phew… just in time. Looking at the clock she saw it was 8:58AM, and she casually joined the group of hunters gathered around the same spot they were at the first meeting. She managed to weave her way through the crowd to reach Striker and Black Raiden, standing towards the middle of the group.
“It’s about time you showed up Cranberry, I was wondering if I was going to have to come get you myself.” Striker laughed, looking at the disoriented FOnewearl, with her hair a mess and her clothes making it quite obvious that she slept in them.
“Now, now honey, no need to pick on Cranberry. She had a rough day yesterday after all.” Raiden stated, rubbing Striker’s shoulder softly.
“Oh I was only teasing…” Striker sulked, sagging a bit from the accusations.
“It’s alright Raiden, I don’t mind. I imagine I do look like a bit of a mess, I jogged the whole way here.” Cranberry replied with a little laugh.
Before anyone else could say anything, Vivian came bursting into the room just like last time, except this time, everyone cleared the way for her, not wanting to be shoved aside again. Vivian took her spot up by her pedestal and immediately began her report. “Again I apologize for getting a lot of you up so early today, and especially since you haven’t even had a day’s rest since your last assignment, but something very important has come up. I thank you all for coming and for being so punctual, I’d like you all to pay attention to the following security footage.” Vivian made a gesture towards the wall at the back of the room, where a screen was descending into the room. The footage of the cat-like woman being shown on the screen, “The strange creature shown in this security footage was caught invading one of our laboratories last night, but despite our best efforts, it escaped alive and there were several casualties. Your job is to go down to Ragol in groups and try to bring back this creature alive. Each group will be given some pictures to help you identify it. The group that brings in the creature will receive a hefty reward since this creature is a threat to my research and may very well prevent the breakthrough I am aiming for. However, if I hear there’s any violence between groups of hunters, or between members of a group, they will not receive anything from me even if they bring in the creature. There will also be no reward if the creature is brought in dead. I need it alive in order to do proper research so do not let me down! Now go, my assistant at the main desk will give you your photos as well as a communication device so all of you can communicate with each other and ask for back-up if it is needed. You must do this for the sake of making Ragol’s creatures gently and harmless!” Vivian made an elaborate gesture towards the main desk, waiting for the hunters to start moving before making her way back out of the room.
Cranberry gestured for Black Raiden and Striker to wait before going to the counter, “Hang on… I’ve got to talk to you about this assignment.” The two droids nodded, and Cranberry waited for all the other hunters to leave before continuing, “That creature… I met her last night while working on my assignment. She… she saved my life… I would’ve died if she hadn’t have chosen to show herself and kill my attacker. I think something’s wrong here… and I don’t think we should try to bring her in… instead, I think we should try to rescue her from the other hunters, get her somewhere safe.”
“Are you sure this creature is safe Cranberry? She looked pretty fearsome on that security footage.” Striker stated, looking a bit concerned.
“I’m definitely not sure she’s safe… but I don’t want her to go through any harm… and I’m sure she’ll go through plenty of harm if Vivian gets her hands on her. That creature’s name is Pink… she saved my life… and now I want to help her in return… if she’ll let me.” Cranberry replied, sighing as she remembered Pink’s impatience with her the previous night.
“Well, I think we should help Striker… this creature, Pink, definitely would not want to have research performed on her, and perhaps there’s more to her than meets the eye.” Raiden assured Striker, wrapping an arm around him.
”Very well… let’s just be extra careful… Pink looks quite dangerous and could likely slice my circuits with relative ease.” Striker said, heaving a sigh as he felt obligated to help out too.
“Thank you… I really don’t want to see Pink come to any harm. Let’s go get our equipment at the main desk so we can keep track of what’s going on. If someone else finds her before we do, we’ve got to intercept and help her get out of there.” Cranberry exclaimed, already starting to walk toward the desk with Raiden and Striker close behind.
After collecting their assigned gear and testing to make sure everything was working, Cranberry, Black Raiden, and Striker made their way to the teleport, sending them down to the surface of Ragol. The rest of the hunters were gathered a little ways from the teleport, a couple of them standing on some rocks so they could look over the crowd. Watching to see if everyone had arrived, and with a nod, a HUnewearl cleared her throat and addressed everyone. “Alright everybody, we’ve already got all of our groups picked out, now remember, we’ve got to bring back the creature alive! Once anyone locates the creature call everyone immediately to your position, because it looks very dangerous and the more of us there are, the better chance we have of capturing it without causing any fatal damage. Are we all in agreement?” The HUnewearl looked over the crowd, seeing everyone nod, and then nodded herself. “Alright everyone… lets go hunting!” cried the HUnewearl raising her fist into the air and watched as all the groups split up, heading in all different directions across the land.
