The Wii uses exactly the same system as Nintendo DS uses in terms of accounts... there are none, all the games use the friend code system. Every game you play online, you'll need your friends friend code to play with them online. Pretty lame really in comparison to Xbox Live, but meh, it's free! Good ol' Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Smile

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection also uses the same methods of getting online as Nintendo DS. If you can get online with your DS, your Wii shouldn't have any problems!
