Yeah, I'm getting ready to start training for my black belt in combat Jiu-Jutsu.
Well, you can force them to react but I would imagine most are aggressive fighters so when you force them to defense they don't know how to react. But if you face a counter fighter that is relying on you pressing the assault then you're in trouble, because you in turn won't be able to react.
Or at least that is how it is with me being an agressive fighter. I have the benefit of training with pretty much every fighting posture there is: Agressive, Defensive, Counter, Finesse, Speed, ect. So I can see where the rock/paper/scissors style comes into play. I imagine you do too. I'm sure you haven't had all of those fights be brutal stab contests, but the ones you do make for good stories
