Perfect and good are two different things. Being the perfect human or being in a Darwinistic world would not actually make you good.
To be the perfect being you must surpass the competition at such a level that no other being could ever possibly destroy and take away the resources of your race.
Ergo, the most perfect humans would be some kind of world conquering, fundamentally imperial and impervious society. Probably not what you would associate with something "good".
So do we want to be good, or perfect?
There is a splitting of paths here. It's like if there were a perfect gun. It's not something you would call a positive object, but it would do its' job extremely well.
