Almost every console will gain a disc reading problem of some kind after a period of years has passed. The simple truth is that some machinery lasts a very long time, but no mechanical object can last forever. Bits tire, things wear out and need replacing. If you ever buy something feeling you'll never replace it you've already been suckered.
