God-IX Wrote:yes, the way you said that helps the console last longer is not to play.......that is not a solutionIt is not a matter of how long it will take to break, I said they will break eventually, but if you take care of your systems, then they will not break as fast as he claims they will.
dreamcast is capable of reading cd-r, it was made with that function, but copied games are writen in a different way (unlike the gd-rom) sega did not take this into account, the dreamcast may work fine, but after some time the cd-r wears down the lens and gd-rom take some time in loadings and stuff, since the dreamcast at the beguining needs a fast load, the game will not load and you will be back to the dreamcast menu, if you make it to the game, loadings make take more time, fore example an npc may take half an hour (believe it or not it helped me alot in some quests).
about the fan, mine is working, the holes on the side help cool off, but before i had any holes the dreamcast heated alot, not sure if this matters but in portugal the temperature is hot, last summer my city had above 42ª celsius, so basicly my room is hot, even on winter the dreamcast plastics expands , even if it is a low expand after a year or 2 or even 3 that may cause the dc to reset, normally happens when the dc asks for power to read the game disk, it firts happens like a unusual bug, then the frequency stsrts to increase, until the game becomes unplayable......it will happen for sure, but it is easy to solve the problem, about the laser problem just switch the laser.
theres even 1 more problem that happens on dreamcast, it happens if 4 people are playing, 4 controlers pluged may cause the resistor inside to broke, making the controler unit not workink anymore until you replace the resistor, it happens rarely but it could happen.
