Christians etc. don't believe in karma as of standard; they belive in divine punishment from god. And god doesn't have to punish you threefold, he can punush you twofold, or tenfold if he wants to 
IMO god is an idea put forward by people who can't accept their own mortality and who wish to control society; and as such, even though he is only an idea he does punish people. With wars and such - like most religions.
