just a suggestion but get through the thing on somebody who doesn't have a very high level. it will get them levels and if you let them be the leader then you can go to ruins. also in case you don't know you have to press the A button near these pillars that appear at forest 2 caves 2 and mines 2 to get to the ruin. Otherwise you'll just get there and find out the hard way.

But in multi-mode you don't need to touch the pillars to go to the ruins. You just have to get through the mines. In order to get to hard multi-mode you all will have to be at a certain level I guess lv.20 or higher.
