lol, nah, Nintendo are still developing the next system, it certainly won't be out in time for next year. The reason you won't have heard of any game producers, such as Electronic Arts, SEGA, UbiSoft, etc. making any games for the 'N5' is because Nintendo haven't distributed the developing kits yet. They don't have the kits themself to distribute! The console is still in production.
The Nintendo DS has, as you've no doubtedly already all seen, been near enough completed. Development kits were given out a while ago too, so launch games could be prepared by 3rd Party Publishers. This is for it's key release at the end of the year (Spring for Europe). About just under a year after you know publishers have the development kits for a new console, at that time you can expect it to be released. At least 2006 to be honest i'm saying...
But hey, what do i know! 2004 hasn't ended yet, only half way through the year. If they've been distributed from Autumn of this year, then it could come out in time for Autumn/Winter the year after - 2005 (Console titles are a bigger and longer production then Handheld titles).
Don't underestimate the power of the Gamecube! ^_^
