FFXI isn't turn based, but it isn't like PSO either. Here is how it works.

First, you select or click on the enemy on the screen, then you select attack, if you're in range, you'll swing your weapon, and continue to swing it about every 5 seconds. You have no control over your swings. Then you pick your spells from a list, some have cool down, some don't. You can move during battle, but most of the time it has no affect on anything. The leveling beyond level 35 becomes incredably slow, I mean like, super duper slow, and don't expect to level without 6 people in a party. The concept is a good idea, but it doesn't feel like Final Fantasy at all.

It's a great game, but it's lacking too. I prefer the gameplay of PSO to FF:XI, everything feels as if it's been done before, and you're never the first to do anything. I probably won't be playing it anymore, but no guarantees. If you guys want, I can get you a "World Pass" and have you make a character on my server "Fairy" Then I can give you some items and gil and what not. I'm a WHM so I can also help you with leveling.

It's a different type of game, but at the same time, it does get old, just like all other games. You'll get bored after awhile. I give it an 8/10. I give PSO:While playing online an 8/10 also though because of all the hacks and dupes. If it weren't for that, 9/10.

Oh, yes, FF:XI has NO hacks or dupes in the game, there is no duping system or hack system to it because the characters are kept on the POL (Play Online) servers. This is the same system implimented in PSO:BB and Diablo II Closed B.net. I'm sure they'll use this system for PSU also.
