"So your awake, didn't think you would be up for another day or two." Kangae winced, it felt like his body was being torched while he lay upon a bed of needles. Yet after a time he dared to open his eyes, and was relieved to find that they did not burn upon doing so. His gaze met that of a nurse, who had previously checked his vitals an had seen that his heart rate had increased. After another moment or two, he could move his limbs again, and eventually the nurse helped him into a sitting position. He opened his mouth to ask a question, but the female handed him a glass of water, knowing how dehydrated he must be after an adrenaline rush of the magnitude he experienced in the school. The Newman merely nodded his thanks and accepted the glass, the liquid inside helped calm his nerves somewhat, though he still trembled slightly. After draining the cup of its contents, he finally managed to speak,
"How did I.." The FOnewm's voice trailed off, his mind recoiling from the events that had occurred the previous day.
"We honestly can't answer that, no one that was apparently attacked by the aliens survived. So your case is still somewhat of a mystery to us, perhaps if there is anything you can clarify for us maybe we can-"
"No.." He stood up gingerly, waving off the protests of the pink clad nurse. Somehow, the word alien didn't really apply to these creatures, and her saying it that way annoyed him. She wasn't there, she doesn't know that they're nothing more than killers..
"I don't remember, I just know that it was like being dragged down a well. See some light at the top but at the bottom you've got no hope." He coughed, his lungs and muscles were still sore. The nurse manage to coax him to lay down again, and went off to fetch another glass of water. He watched her retreating figure for a moment, and then closed his eyes. Neuri has an ass like that, though this gal's face leaves much to be desired.. He smiled grimly to himself, that was always the catch, wasn't it? Again his ears twitched, and as if this was a signal for pain, images of the screaming students and the black spider filled his mind. He grit his teeth as the ache spread like a wave from his head through out the rest of him, pressing both palms against both temples in a vain attempt to sooth the agony, something he had never seen before passed across his vision. An orb, a huge, white sphere, crawling with the mechanical monstrosities he encountered. Accompanying this image was an unbearable feeling, of all the emotions he had ever felt before. Hatred for the things coursed through him, love for them, sadness for them.. Confused, Kangae moaned and turned over, pressing his head against the plush pillow. Nothing he did would stop the vision, nothing would stop how he felt, he felt helpless. Smooth yet firm hands turned him in the direction of the ceiling again, while the glass returned to his lips and some more water was poured into his mouth, though this time he could tell medicinal additives were in play, for it tasted and smelled somewhat bitter. He sat up and pushed her away, spitting out the water that would have lulled him to sleep. The hospital robe he was dressed in was a bit big, making him look somewhat smaller than he was already, yet somehow with his voice he was able to portray a much more bold attitude than he would have under normal circumstances.
"Did anyone else besides me make it out alive?" The nurse nodded, still surprised that the first glass of herbal treated water hadn't done its job. This is what she got for working with newman patients.
"Yes, just one, with a story much like yours, I believe."
"And what about the killers?"
"The militia came in with some strange weapons, I believe they had to freeze and then smash them to thoroughly destroy the aliens." Kangae shook his head, there went that 'alien' word again. The images now faded away, all they left behind was anger and guilt in their wake. The newman was ashamed of himself, running like that, falling as he had, and yet miraculously survive while nearly all the others had died.. For this he was angry, for this a hatred welled up inside of him. Taking another look at his current garb, he spoke again.
"Where are my clothes?" The nurse pointed to a pile or articles in an adjacent chair after hearing this,
"Your parents passed by here, as did your teacher.. Miss Jibun was it? Well, she wanted you to pay a visit to her home as soon as you felt that strength had returned to you. Though I don-"
"Thanks" He said quickly, cutting her off and taking a card that the nurse had been given with his teacher's address written down upon it. They had both realized that it would be breaking the rules to travel the streets at a time like this. Citizens had been ordered to stock up on what provisions they could, and then hole up in their homes. Because of the school massacre, many followed these commands obligingly. After dressing he left the hospital as quickly as he could, something about that place just gave him the creeps. Nothing but a place for the dead and the dying, I surely don't belong there.
