You don't pick your rank, it is assigned. If you qualify for an S-rank, the Guild Mistress will say "Select your prize", then a list of the different types of weapons appear, for example it would look like:
Saber
Sword
Blade
Partisan
etc
then you pick one, you are allowed (as Kefka and Ivan said) to have an 8 letter name with no Symbols. That name goes before the type of weapon it is, for example, my Sword is called the Lionhart Sword. You cannot take the type of weapon out of the name so bear that in mind. The Orotiagito is better than the Srank Katana by about 100ATP I believe. The Srank Katana can be grinded to 250 so by the end it gives you +650 ATP. The Orotiagtio gives you between 750-800 ATP (sorry if the numbers are off, I'm doing this off the top of my head but those are the general areas) however, the S-rank Katana is easier to get and you could put any special you want on it (I have Hell's which makes it incredibly useful).
