I have to stick up for the RAcaseals here. You do know that there are a lot of enemies that do have ranged attacks? Plus the RAcast's ATA is shite compared to that of the RAcaseal (six points does make all the difference, unless a RAcast's ATA is not 225 as I was informed).
And even if you are a good Ranger player, enemies WILL get close to you, either through their jumping or warping techniques (Delsabers, Sinows) or through other means (charge of the Delbiter, or just through sheer force of numbers combined with speed in the case of the Merlans).
The low ATP is easily made up for by the other stats. Last time I checked, the HP figure can go really high...
Plus, I've survived up to lv170 with my RAcaseal, and I'd say she is a lot better than everyone gives her credit for - she is more durable than other characters, for a start...
