FOmars rule. I have a lvl 116 FOmar who I have made a power mag for .
5/120/75/0 and I have been giving him def / pow mats.
I also have a second mag for him which is a mind mag when I want him to go barehanded for pure tech-casting. Good weapons for a meleeing FOmar are red saber, Holy Ray, Red Handgun, etc. There are others.
Concerning support, you might want to equip resta merge (especially in areas like seabed where you might be spread out from your team a bit more) because quite frankly his resta range is bad compared to that of a foney or fomarl. Red merge is also a good choice to boost his already boosted gifoie even more. But if you are straight up meleeing you probably want to equip a stronger barried for dfp.
one other thing, get REALLY good armor. his hp and dfp is low and you have to make up for that. have fun making a FOmar, they rule!
