Sounds like you have some good leads there. But I have a few conjectures.
First, it is probably doubtful that Sony will release the PS3 with a hard drive. For in order to keep their cost down to match the other two systems they probably won't package it with the system, but rather include it as an aftermarket accessory in order to make money back on the cost. Another fact about the hard drive is that the XBOX-2 has been said to no longer have a hard drive included either. This is due to the fact that Microsoft was very unhappy with XBOX hard drive moding and alteration. So as far as they said, they're going to try and omit an internal hard drive until a protected one can be released at a later date. So with that said, you can see why Sony probably will not include a hard drive internally in the PS3.
Now another interesting fact that has been considered for PS3 is the implementation of Blue-Ray disc technology. Sony has recently come to grab the licensing on this new technology and is strongly considering implementing it into the PS3. What Blue-Ray is exactly, is a new method of compressing larger amounts of data within a disc and reading it with a more powerful and capable laser. Basically, its a larger, higher-quality format than DVD and the ratio to data size that can be stored is 10 to 1 over that of a DVD. So if Sony does incorporate this into the PS3, consumers can expect many more vast, painstakingly detailed games with expansive landscapes to match. All with higher-resolution graphics as well.
The future of systems certainly does look interesting, but unfortunately we won't get any concrete information or evidence until the new systems are revealed at theis years E3(Electronic Entertainment Expo) this coming May.
