i think it could possibly be harder to have a hacked server on psox, what i understand about it is that u change the dial up site on the gc network screen, well thats not possible on a normal xbox as u automatically connect to xbox live servers then to psox, asoon as ur xbox is turned on, ur automatically on xbox live, but as for hacked xbox's, then u prob can choose which server u use, but for the hacked server, its prob the case of doing what u had to do to use the jap ver 2 pso on dc on a british dc (brings back memorys flash whiping the bios) lol. but anyway, i think its on the american gc, im not sure if u have region settings on the gc, but on xbox, we cant play americans on psox 
just europeans... soo unfair, but i suppose u have good and bad on each system, just hope it dont get as bad as the dc, coz that just made it impossible to play in the end
