Ch.5: Playing With Lives -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The floor beneath them had dissipated, from a rough underground terrain, with constant bumps, to a simple flat black plain with a green lined grid. Numerous hunters stood, holding various weapons, in the large empty enviroment. Idris held his pallasach ready with both hands, waiting for the next area....nothing. Idris loosened his stance, and turned his pallasch off. The training chamber was suddenly filled with speech. Murmurs came from all over the large empty place, some hunters yelling and throwing there weapons, swearing to get revenge on the little midget that cheated them; some laughing at how stupid the midget must be. Mira put her left hand on her hip and shifted her weight to her right foot.

"What's going on? I didn't pay that greedy midget for nothing." Mira said, disgusted. Heavy Arsenal turned off his claymore and looked around.

"Something's not right...." Heavy Arsenal let his voice trail off. S stood quietly, regarding the number of hunters. Idris looked up at the roof, a grid, just like the rest of the room.

"It may be one of Laon's scams....or he's a very bad programmer....I wouldn't be suprised at either." Idris explained. Mira looked at him suprised.

"You KNOW that guy?" Mira said, suprised.

"Yes. I've known him since we....I was little." Idris joked on Laon's size. Mira laughed.

"So you got in for free?" Mira continued laughing, Idris nodded. "Well then I'm with you. I'll ask for my money back when we get out of here." Mira said sarcastically, winking at Idris.

"You won't be leaving any time soon, Miss Oron." A rather loud ominous voice boomed, seemingly coming from everywhere. "Nor Mr. Karasagi, or ANY of you, for that matter." The loud voice spooked the hunters throughout the room. Some drew there weapons, some fell to the floor suprised, and some wondered why they came at all. Mira held her laser ready, Heavy Arsenal whipped out his repeaters, and Idris turned on his pallasch. S stood, unmoving. "Put your weapons away, you cannot harm me." The loud voice boomed. Some hunters disarmed themselves, but a few kept them drawn. Idris, Mira, and Heavy Arsenal stayed in the ready position. "I am now in complete control of everything in this chamber. Fighting me is useless, because I am not here. There is no way to break out, do not try, you will only hurt yourself."

"How do you know my name? What do you want?" Idris yelled loudly, seemingly at the wall. There was a laugh.

"I want you, to fight." The voice started, "All of you. You will fight each other." The voice explained.

"And why should we listen to you?" A hunter boomed, unafraid. He was carrying a claymore, in the ready position. His white hair fell down in the classic style, his face smiling. He was fairly built, and his grey and white armour fit him perfectly.

"Because, it's the only way you'll ever leave here alive."

"You want us, to fight each other, just to get out of here?" The hunter asked, inquisitivly.

"Yes."

"We won't just let you play with our lives!" The hunter yelled angrily. The voice laughed.

"You don't have a choice."
