Well it is all quite simple actually. The National Hockey League Players Association did not like what they were being paid (for the most part), so basically they stopped playing. The Owners were attempting to get them back on the ice by making offers that the Players did not like; and vice versa: the Players made offers to the Owners in which the Owners could not afford to pay the Players.
So, after many rounds of negotiations - the Chairman of the NHL called off this season (predictably) just a week or so ago. Over money..what fools.
