Dark Flow is not a legitimate weapon, period. <.< Even on Schthack's server. As it is a drop that was disabled officially, any way of obtaining it makes it an illegitimate weapon.

SEGA abandoned PSOBB, they no longer control the legitimacy of items, "period". SEGA/Sonic Team made a lot of horrible game-balance mistakes, and a lot of stupid decisions. I don't think we should idolize their opinion of what is 'legit' and what is not just because they made the game

Whoever owns a certain server controls what is legit on 'that' server. What SCHTHack implemented is not legit on SEGA servers, and some weapons that are legit on SEGA are not legit on SCHTHack. There no one single legit, legitimacy differs from server to server.

Official versions of what is legit = for official server (dead)
SCHTHack versions of what is legit = for unofficial server (alive)

Anyway, something no one has pointed out:

At point blank range when lined up correctly - the special attack of Dark Flow hit's the enemy four times with hard attack damage. That is; it hits every enemy struck by the special attack four times at once. With hard attack damage. This is usually enough to OHKO most ultimate mode enemies :x

And the fact it can hit four times in a single slash nullifies the fact it can't combo, pure and simple. The only problem is that you need to be pretty amazing to stay alive at the HP required to activate the special. Also since it can be built with ridiculous amounts of hit% easily the special won't be missing much.

Not really, when you buy the game you follow sonic team standards, not schthack ones, pso bb is a bit different since you chose the server, but the jp server still remains

Game is free to download, didn't buy it at all. So by what you have said there is no longer any need to follow the theory of 'legit' for a company I am not paying a cent to.

Agreed, I respect your opinions and everyone elses. I just think that it's a pretty tall order to accept the dictat of a company who abandoned us and killed all our online servers ;_; even the GC ones. I very much saw SCHTHack as the 'saviour of PSO' or whatever so I'm down with whatever he decides. Sonic Team can bite me ;D

You have some valid points, I have some valid points. But moving on from legitimacy (because this topic is not called "What is legit?") what do you think about my point on the Dark Flow special. Does that make it useful if you are godly at not getting hit? Or does the skill in your opinion required to wield it to maximum efficiency deter you?

well, i remember once a friend of mine tried to do the special in ultimate ruins ttf, but things didn't go as planed and at 1/10 of your hp then 1 hit means you die, so we ended up reviving him alot more times then anyone in the party because of that.

In a controlled enviroment such as the sil dragon boss or a easy area in wich cases you have high chances to block enemys attack then the special can be indeed awsome and effective.
Online (with friends to watch you back/create a diversion) the weapon is usefull, offline i would say hell no.

I define legitimate as being an item that is obtainable or creatable without any form of differentiation in the core mechanics. SEGA/Sonic Team coded that weapon, and they coded it so that the core component, Parasitic Gene "Flow", is unobtainable. Schthack has modified the game, which is an illigitimate action and in my opinion nullifies any claim to being legitimate.

Regardless of whose server it is, the core game is still a creation of a global conglomerate, and has simply been edited. It's no different than a glorified CS: S mod.
