Now, to restart the rant with something that happened within the last hour.

I was playing with Toadstool in VH, then two friends of mine entered. The Ramarl who had found the Lavis the night before, and her brother. Then another guy entered, just a random Ramar. We finished Forest, then went to the quest counter. I asked what quest we should do...

Her brother said: "Wanna try that PSOBB quest?"
I said: "No." as the Ramarl said "why not. which one is it?"

Recently a PSOBB quest was ported over onto the free server. >_>

The ramar said: "AW" (he had no keyboard)
And I did not want to stop them, so I said "Whatever. You guys can. See you later > Everybody"

Of course, I was mailed by the Ramarl... And here I lost several mails so I will have to go by paraphrasing.

Her: Why did you leave?
Myself: Because I don't want to have to bother explaining why to yet another group of people, because it only results in flames. Yet some people insist on mailing me and continuing it. Please don't.
Her: Well, I am going to play it anyway.
Myself: That's fine, I left so you could without my interruption.
Her: When was the last time you played the quest?
Myself: Never.
Her: Why not?
Myself: Because that is a PSOBB quest. I am not a PSOBB player. Therefore, I should not be playing a PSOBB quest.
Her: You are too legit you know that?
Myself: I don't think so. I have gotten along perfectly fine this way ever since I started, and I shall continue on this way.

Her: btw my fs is from SS so w/e
Myself: I figured.
Her: i knew u thought that becuz u didnt say it was cool
Myself: I did not say it was cool because it is no major accomplishment. Nearly every ranger has one. Wether or not it is from SS, it is not that rare.
Her: yea so what?! and i nevere said u should
Myself: "I knew you thought that because you did not say it was cool." - you
Her: i spent 3 hours on SS!!
Myself: I piped some 35 Torrs for a 30 hit Snow Queen. My 0/40/0/90/50 Rainbow Baton was made using an Iritista from a randomly spawned Torr in FoS. I don't mind having done that.
Her: u do realize that ST WAS supposed TO HAVE DL QUESTS [which is completely irrelevant, BTW]
Myself: ST is not required to do anything, regardless of what they say or promise. They do not have to maintain a decent server. It is in the Terms of Service that you agreed to.
Her: well w/e u can stop now plz K THX
Myself: You are the one who mailed me to begin with. And didn't I say that I left to stop any flaming? >.>

Actually there's nothing we at pso-world can do if gamespy says "we need to do maintenance on your server." At that point its out of our hands.

I would have no problem playing a diffrent quest. Which is what I tryed to tell you. But you just left.

Couple of points.

1. Duping is not legit, you can argue that you backup for fsod or w/e.
But the fact is Sonic Team never intended the Duping glitch to work.
I know how, but I never dupe.

2.Fragment of Memories was supposed to come out on GC. Never released cause Gamecube official servers are dead.

3.Everyone has their own definition of Legit.
I often risk fsoding to play with v2 chars on GC. i also have a v2 char who I trade weps with. You can argue that that is not legit, but I feel that if I spend all that time searching for rares on v2 it is no diffrent then giving weps to your GC chars at low lvls.

4.You are playing on a hacked ship, with data stolen from Sonic Team. Sega never intended you to access this server so that right there makes you unlegit.

5.Techinically you should still be on Sonic Team servers still geting fsoded byu Optimus, because Sega was given the info to stop fsod but did not want to take the time to implement.

Besides, If you play on the server that means that basically Tink and wild one are your sonic team now.

That is all, I do not mind playing with you, nor would I have argued if you had said the reason you didn't want to play Fragment of Memories.

While whiteninja may be playing on an illegit ship (and yes that is illegit and not unlegit), he still has the decency to abide by the rules of the game - and it is in that that he draws difficulty. His Rainbow Baton actually means something to him because of the amount of hours he has put into it.

He is power gaming, in the sense that he will 'pipe for enemies, and that he chooses to play on a hacked server because it is actually playable compared to the ST ones.

"Everyone has their own sense of legit" - true enough, Sonic. But why would you be ranting about it if you didn't care? Truth is, there are only two absolutes: total, self-hurting legitimacy (like yours, accepting FSOD loss and all that), and total no-holds-barred illegitimacy. Anything in between is a gray area and you either have to accept and enjoy it, or go play something else. End of story.

I thought up a logical justification for it actually:
- When online, an illegal power down causes all unequipped/banked items to be lost.
- Causes of that power down include FSOD, LSOD, power outages, etc.
- Items are lost online so that a person does not drop his items, have a friend get them, then power down illegall, and therefore have duplicate copies of an item being used.
- Making a backup of an item ensures that there will only be one copy of the item used, and if that copy is lost to FSOD, there will still only be one copy of that item used. Therefore, you are adhering to what Sonic Team wanted.

And on another note... I cannot link to this post directly, but you may want to read the printscreen of it.
There are limitations on backups.

Sonic Team fixed Opeth's login hack, didn't they? And like I said with the DLQ's, Sonic Team has no resposibility to do anything, at all, whatsoever, in any way, shape, or form. So, you, Ade, and many others can stop using that as some sort of justification. It is entirely false.

Sega did put the DNS option in there. The most you can accuse it of is being illegal. Legitimacy depends on how you play, not where you play it.

There still people on ST who manage to avoid FSOD. Many of them have backups too, just incase. Then there are AR Anti-Codes and proxies that can be used to stop FSOD. In regard to what you said about ST not fixing FSOD, see my reply to #2. They didn't have to, but their choice not to did cause them alot of costumers.

Besides, If you play on the server that means that basically Tink and wild one are your sonic team now.

Tink and Wild One have absolutely NO control over the standards of legitimacy. So what, they have a ship? Guess what, alot of people have servers now thanks to Kohle. I have a LAN server too. Lee has a server, but he does not make legitimacy AT ALL XD (not Lee-Yoshi, a different Lee who has been making absurd download quests). Sonic Team still owns the game.

That is something I have found to be increasing funny recently. I have been called too legit, and an anal legit because I don't do the new quests or the download quests... Well, guess what. Before February, NO ONE had ever killed a 100% spawn Torr. NO ONE had played a custom quest. NO ONE had downloaded a quest. Yet, they were not anal legits. They were just plain, old legits.

I have played this game that way for nearly a year and a half. I have well over 2000 hours on it. I have gotten by doing it that way for the entirety of the time I have played PSO. I have not changed at all.

It is YOU who have changed your standards of legitmacy. It is YOU who say that I "art holier than thee" now. It is YOU who say I am too legit. If you believe my legitimacy is higher than yours, it is because you believe you have somehow belittled your own.



*** In the last part of the post, "you" does not refer to Sonic4997v3 specifically, but to anyone who thinks that I am too legit because I continue to play the way you all used too.

Edit: I forgot to mention, if you don't think that I am an anal legit for not doing the quests, then that means you see your legitimacy as perfectly intact... Which is fine with me. I only ever get in arguments with those who insist that I am too legit.

On the real I understand perfectly where you are coming from.
I cannot tell you how many rares I lost on Sonic Team's servers since Dreamcast.

And we share diffrent opinons on the legit area.

My intention was not to flame you, and I apoligize if it came off as such.
As i stated I have no problems with you whatsoever.
If you want to play just the sonic team quests, that is fine.
I don't mind what quests we play as i enjoy them all.
