Only weapons made from enemy parts and the Orotiagito conversion are totally deprived from percentages. The SoaB rewards are randomly assigned %'s much like a normal drop, although whenever I have recieved one the %'s have been in a single area. Is that true for all of them ?

UGH. I just played through this quest in Ultimate with my Ranger (now Lv. 83) in pursuit of a Supressed Gun. But I checked through every single room in Caves 3... no mineral. None at all. Hordes of enemies (my Soul Eater got a workout), but no mineral. I read somewhere... maybe it was here?... that I had to kill all the enemies in the forest for it to appear. I also remember reading that it appears in the room before where the boss would be. I actually double-checked every corner of the Forest looking for a trigger area, or something, that would make more monsters appear, but I found none.
What is the deal with this? Besides leveling up twice, I pretty much wasted two and a half hours looking for something that just wasn't there. I really, really hope I don't have to beat all the caves enemies too.....

I read you need to kill all the enemies in Forest too. So, I took the safe road, just in case, and killed 'em all. Probably would have been your best bet. The mineral is in a blue room (oddly shaped, sorta..) and I missed it for a few mins., then found it.

Where? Was it near the boss room (the one with the port that takes you back to Pioneer 2)? I was sure I looked in every room on the map... there were no unexplored areas left...

I don't exactly remember if it was near the boss room, but I'm almost 100% positive there was at least one other room between it and the boss room. It was fairly deep in Caves 3 anyways.
If you do SoaB again, I simply suggest you kill all the enemies in Forest 1+2, get the materials from Forest and then go to Caves 3(avoiding minerals in 1+2), and then just search. Keep in mind, it is in a blue room. Just don't quit, it's there. Guaranteed. Took me a min. too..look for a sparkle on a blue wall.

No, just this one.
...........sparkle on a wall? As in, it wasn't on a big, glaringly obvious rock pile? Well, crap. At least now I know what went wrong... that's what I was looking for... ugh.
