To close? You have to wait till they get close? Mahaha, I have long range high power rifle, kill deer up too 250 yards away no problem, moose be problem at that distance though tough hide hard to hit in right spot. Unlike deer, moose don't move when shot, they stand there and look in the direction that the shot came from, stupid stupid animal gets shot a lot more for that. Try duck hunting (not the game), try hitting a duck doinf forty Km/H over your head without falling out boat at same time, great great fun.

So far, I haven't seen any animal 100 yards away from me, when I have my nice ol' 303 brit.......Ekwee......I don't hurt teh kitties.....lol....crap, that reminds me of a time when I threw pepper into my brother's eyes.....lol.....poor b***ard hit the ground and started rolling around in pain.....lol.....of course i sat down and drank the rest of my tea watching him suffer......

Ah Ses, very good choice of weaponry that is yes, I have one as well. But still I iwll always favore my grandfathers .44 Mag semi outo rifle. Only goes about a hundred yards accurately, but it will drop a deer in that rage easly. Also, I just got a .308 pump rifle, the make I am not sure of right now. Add in my 12 gage pump and I am happy camper/hunter.

ah.....44 mag semi....*starts drooling* awesome, major kick *ss weapon......12 gauge pump is great weapon....lol...I have a faster and more accurate shot than my step dad....hes been hunting for over 25 years now, and I started just this year...... ...poor guy, lol......30-30's are a nice little bush gun to.....does your hunting party ever tried chasing deer out to ppl......my hunting gang hasn't had much luck with it.......I think we got 2 deer chasing......the rest of the deer that we got, were from just going to and from our stands or where we were going to start chasing.

As most people can see, I'm quite the gun fanatic.....

I also love guns and Darkmatter can attest to later. 44 mags have no kick, to me anyway, though I have been shooting for over 12 years of my life. My dad and I are about even in the aiming area, but I can still manage to out shoot him once in a while. We do chase deer out to people, its what we call dogging. We make howling noices to scare the deer, but its main use is to let everyone know were we are. We chase them to people that are a watch area. We used have about 4 dogs out there as well, but now we are down to 2, and the one doesn't leave its owners side often. 30-30's are nice buch guns yes. Has anyone tried bow hunting? Not just compound(the normal ones.), but also crossbow as well?

I took and archery class in Boy Scouts a while back, we didn't hunt anything though, just target practice. I wasn't too great.... but I passed.... I'm much better with Link in LoZ: Ocarina of Time.

Edit: My grandpa has a longbow hanging on his wall (not an antique or anything), and he let me try it out once, it was as tall as me before it was strung. (but I was shorter then)
