PROLOUGE
"MOMMY, DADDY DON'T GO!" I scream as I see them disappear into the morning sky. As I sit there on the ground crying hysterically a man in shrouded in dark black and green robes walks up to me.
"What's wrong little one?" he asks; I look up at him with blurred eyes. He appeared to be a strong man, stern, and yet kind.
"THEY ABANDONED ME!" he appeared to contemplate this heavily with a solem look on his face, that even through my tears could easily be seen. After several seconds past in silence, with the execption or my sobs, he spoke up.
"Follow me." he said dully. He spoke with an air of exasperation about him that intrigued me, with that last thought I got up and wiped my eyes.
"My name's Claire" he just shook his head; lost in thought, or so it seemed.
"Tell me Claire," he piped after a while "who exactly abandoned you?" I started to answer him but tears started flowing again. Answering him would mean accepting the truth that I HAD been abandoned, left behind like I was nothing more that a mere possesion or article of clothing. After many minutes of walking and crying, my voice parched and dry. I answered him with meek, quiet words bearly audible. At long last I answered.
"My parents." once again we did not talk for a long while. When he finally spoke up he stopped and put a hand on my shoulder.
"So they were aboard Pioneer1?"
"I suppose. When I woke up this morning all of their clothing and valuables were gone."
"Claire, you know for a little girl you are very well voiced. How old are you exactly?" he looked at me with general interest.
"Ten."
"Hmm.How would you like to stay with me?" he said with a smile.
"Wha...um..huh!" his request and sudden change in attitude would not allow me to to form or even speak coherently. Suddenly he broke into a laugh.
"Claire is it really that strange a question? Do you have any where else to go?" he said this as he was wiping the tears from his eyes.
"Well no bu..."
"Then it's settled youre living with me" his tone became the strong, solem tone he had taken before. "I don't believe i've formally introduced myself my name is Arlos Grants, and you are?" i smiled weakly.
"My name is Clarice Alexander Darvis."
"Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you." and with that we went "home".
It has been seven years since that day. I now consider that man my father. With my past behind me i prepar for our arrival. Pioneer2 will soon reach Ragol. With my hunters exam coming up soon that place will become a souce of new beginings and adventures
This was written many a month ago. If you read my "The Battle Angel Chronicles" you can see how I've really improved. I never finished this either.
