I'm kind of depressed right now so I feel like talking about the meaning of life and what we are supposed to do on this earth.
I have been reading a lot of philosophy lately and I tend to agree with Aristotle in some aspects of what life should be. Aristotle states that a person is happiest when they are doing what they were meant to do. I agree with this entirely. But how do we find what we are supposed to do? Aristotle again states that it is a medium of things. We should try and find the median. I disagree with this part. The path to happiness I think is in the ability to take things in stride. As my grandmother used to say, "Don't sweat the small stuff. Everything is small stuff." I take this to mean that one should not worry about the bad but should not also dwell on the good. Therefore leading me into a paradox. My interpretation of this quote would tend to suggest that happiness is in the median.
Therefore the meaning of life is to find what makes us happy. If we ever do find this thing that makes us happy, we are meant to follow it to the end. For some this is knowledge. For others it is their interaction with other people. For me... well let's just say I definitely haven't found it yet.
Please post your thoughts and opinions here. I would like to start a reasonable philosophic debate but definitely not a flame war.
