the only way to find drop rates for materials is in normal mode drop charts...
the rest is all luck...

boxes...
no id matters...
doesnt matter which enemy...

It really depends on what SecID for what materials. I know that SKYLY and REDRIA drop mostly Power, Defense, and Evasion Materials, while PINKAL drops mostly Mind. Check it on the http://www.pso-world.com guides.

do the ult fake in yellow quest, i've been doing that lots recently and i get quite a few materials from all those rappys

On my Redria, every forest run i do onultimate, i pick up at least one hp/material and one of the others

Too bad i only want luck mats

All IDs find all materials equally. Luck Materials are the rarer.

Fake in Yellow, and CDFS (PSO+ or online) are good for finding materials though, just because they have a high concentration of enemies. (More things you kill = better chance of getting materials)

Don't rely solely on getting materials to get to ULT mode. Just level up, and concentrate on finding stronger weapons in the mode you're in, Until you can get to it. And after getting to ULT, you'll probably need to do this again just to get through Forest. Believe me, when your a HU about level 70 and in ULT Forest, you level up a lot faster in V. Hard becasue you can kill more enemies quicker, and not die, even if the experience is less.
