Personally I love Rifle's the most. However, I usually use different weapons for different situations.
For ex. Whenever I go down to the Hard Sealevel (I'm trying to get a Twin Psychogun from a Delbiter), I always take my Spread Needle+25. (Does Lotsa damadge in a crowd and can heal in a jiffy!) I like to use mechguns on Hard-V.Hard, But I have a hard time hitting enimies with mechs on Ultamite.(I don't have a good mech with a plus on accuracy) I use my Frozen Shooter the vast majority of the time, and when I reach the boss (I've been able to reach the Dragon and Da rie la :S ...(cannever sp that right...) I use my spread needle and it takes care of the boss pretty quickly.
I've noticed that Spread Weapons do well against several of the bosses...(at least the ones with more than one "target area" ) but before I got my spread needle (it was a gift) I used a Rappies Fan+32. It was also pretty good at taking care of bosses.

Thats my experience anyway. I like all guns...just Rifles better overall.

Whoops I made a typo... I don't have a spread needle, I meant to say Crush Bullet+25.

Another good stratagy is to use confuse traps and pelt em' with spreads from a distance while they kill each other. I'm too low leveled for the Ultamite Ruins but I find that stratagy works wonders. Tongue (it keeps em' of ME anyway.)
