You must have an awesome mannequin, because the one I got, for £6, is so restricted in its poses I can hardly make it do anything >_< . Where did you get yours?
...
I recently found some drawing tutorial resources too, so I thought I'd share:
How To Draw Manga
http://rapidshare.de/files/2885479/How_t...1.rar.html (Part 1)
http://rapidshare.de/files/2889777/How_t...2.rar.html (Part 2)
http://rapidshare.de/files/2882187/How_t...niques.rar
http://rapidshare.de/files/2883363/How_t...e.rar.html
http://rapidshare.de/files/2883963/How_t...r.rar.html
They are books in .pdf format (needs viewer, e.g. Acrobat Reader)
They are compressed .rar (need to be extracted, e.g. using Winrar).
The password to extract them is:

(Shouldn't be underlined ¬_¬)
It might take a long time to download (took me 5 hours), but I found them useful. Now go draw FOmar. *Runs off to draw FOmar* ^_^

My manneqin was actually a very simple one but then i chopped it a little bit. And after that its just a simple case of applying physics to the body
Whiterabbit will produce some more stuff soon when i gwt my broadband back!!
till then peace out.

You wanna know the secret to backgrounds?
Work from the ground up. Litterally.
Start with simple hills and mountain sillouhetts, and then move up the ladder of complexity from there.
I started with flat horizons, moved to hills, then mountains.
After that, try plant life.
Try drawing ferns, trees, and shrubs in the foreground first, and after you get a feel for them, include them in the background.
Buildings are by far the hardest.
I still haven't gotten the knack for drawing cityscapes and even suburban backgrounds. If nothing else works, draw a brick wall!
I've done this several times in my comics, just for filler.
And for a final tip: if you can't do modern stuff, give the thing a fantasy setting.
