Hi everyone
To clear a few things up.
Dark Magician was banned not because of the nature of his posts or the words he used, but because he openly flamed a staff member. This ban was, however, lifted.
There then came the ocassion where he directly contacted me and requested his account be banned. I did not oblige this request.
Knowing that he was 'leaving' the forums he then proceeded to say his goodbyes and in his own words 'holding nothing back' he again openly flamed a number of staff members. He was subsequently permenantly banned.
I have received a ton of private messages from a number of members accusing me of holding a grudge or leading some 'sick vendetta' against a human being. I have absolutley no idea why these members would pm me (or any other staff member for that matter) with this sort of shit.
Leaving topics and goodbye threads were permitted when Dark Magician decided that he did not wish to visit the forums any longer but for us to allow these topics to continue on after over a month was resulting in the forums becoming clogged with irrelevant and hostile threads. The majority of which were from new visitors to the site, asking 'who was DM!!??' and 'why was he banned!!??'. We want all new members to be welcomed to the site's community but to have them intorduced into what seemed like an ongoing slagging match between the site's staff and it's members was unacceptable.
I've said this before but i will say it again.
We have no control over a persons life, this is a site for all fans of Segas' Phantasy Star series and Sega games in general. The forums are provided so as like minded fans can share their experiences and findings within the games. We're aware that a tight knit community has formed within the forum discussions but this absolutley does not mean that any one member is at all responsible for any other member's actions on the forums and especially not in 'real life'.
This includes all members regarded as staff. They too are fans of the game taking time out to contribute to one of their favourite past times. They do not receive any income or gain any financial profit, the site is entirely non commerical.
What a person does with their life is their business, i myself do not personally know anyone on these forums and as such i cannot say i actually hate or dislike anyone.
What does concern me is when content is posted to the site of which is against our terms of use, in which case it is deleted and in certain cases the account is banned. Plain and simple.
Please let it lie, i would hate the see the forums shut down as a result.
