Technical question: Keeping track of slimes
#1
On tonight's TTF runs with Pink and another guy who doesn't come here (AFAIK), I got lucky enough to see a red slime. I was using my HUcast at the time, and in the first room I was the only one there so I had to resort to the third-hit-split tactic. This worked, and one slime turned red. Sweet... Cure/Paralysis right (Pink was using a greenill character and leading)? So I killed it, eventually... it was against the wall at the time, and it dropped... nothing. Nothing at all... which is weird because all rare monsters have a 100% drop-something rate, right? A few seconds later, our other player DCd, and we started over. But there was no drop from that slime... it hadn't even dropped an item somewhere else in the room (as online slimes tend to do, I've noticed).

Coincidentally, on the next run we met a red slime in the 4-slime room that DID drop me a Cure/Paralysis. I was actually the last one to enter the room, and it was there when I entered I think... actually I can't remember if I entered the room before or after it appeared, but if it was after, someone else had split it at the exact moment I entered the room (Pink, was the red slime one of the originals or one of the split ones?). Doesn't matter I suppose, because I distinctly remember getting a Devil/Battle from a split red slime one time in a different run.

What I want to know is this: droids have a hard time splitting slimes for obvious reasons, and so I usually ask our FO friends to split for me when I'm using a droid (coincidentally, I was the only non-FO player in this game Tongue). What aggravates me though, is that the slimes seem to have different behavior for every player. I see someone casting rabarta when the slime isn't even up on my screen... it suddenly goes into a pain animation and pops down again, but I see no second slime. Then people end up killing the slimes before I can see them all. This isn't even considering the possibility of a red slime... I split the slime that created the first red one, but did it not drop my item because... perhaps the game leader didn't see it? I wasn't sure which of the three FOs had split the second slime... would it have mattered?

Basically, how is slime splitting kept track of? What information is stored client-side and server-side? This confuses me, and IMO more of this should have been kept server-side (or at least, when a slime is split by one player, the new slime appears on all players' screens as). Eh... just wondering so maybe I could figure this out better next time I play... :ermm:

when a slime is split, a new slime that is NOT A CLONE OF the previous slime is spawned. However, these split-spawn slimes are not remembered in single player and so cannot be piped. As the new slimes are not a clone of the previous one, they also have a chance of turning into a red. When a red is found by one player online, everyone else can also see that slime just as they can see a rare red box or rare other moster (Al rappy etc).
You cannot pipe online.
If it appears a slime is being hit whilst being still on the floor, this is most often because due to lag the slime has risen on one players screen and will pop up on everyone elses screen to if given the time, but usually someone hits it before this happens. I cannot remember whether it is the person with lots of lag or with a high speed that sees the slime first. This can also be why you get that odd animation where it appears a slime just fades away in blob form on the floor and appears somewhere else.
If one player does not see a slime, or if a certain type of player attacks a slime this will not affect its behaviour other then which attack it uses (Blue bouncy blob thing or ground scythe). Even this is due to your proximity to the slime (you are more likely to be closer if you are a hunter) and so this is still not really affected by class.

Wierd thing happened to me too, I caught a rappy leaving in normal and it dropped nothing, maybe Fabo picked up the thing but he was far from it (maybe lag)?

Online rappies don't always drop items, unless you're talking about the rare rappies. You didn't specify.

There's also 1/3 for the Flight Cutter with Whitill in Temple from a Hildeltorr, along witht the 2 1/205's, but never mind those.

Are you sure that they all drop something 100% of the time?
Too legit to quit.
