Resident Evil 3 & 4
#1
Ive just read up that Constantin Film AG (Makers of the first 2!), have plans to release another 2 Resident Evil films. How cool is that eh?

The 3rd film is currently named Resident Evil: Afterlife, where Alice will walk about in the SouthWestern American deserts while the fourth film is to take place and filmed in Tokyo, Japan!

Wonder if its got anything to do with the popularity of Resident Evil 4? Wink

lets hope they shape up a bit. there is no real thrill when zombie movie plots get watered down too much.
they shouldnt try to pack as many game- and genrereferences as possible into it, but just draw out the essential things for a movie >_>

I have to admit, 1 & 2 havent been much as the game as i would have liked to see, and its far more action the horror, which is kinda what Resi is all about, so i'd also like to see these games pack a bit more sense into them rather then as much action as they possibly can. The story in 2 was over in a flash, but all the action stretched it out to however long it was, and although i didnt enjoy the action, it wasnt Resi Evil.

For example, its missing all the annoying puzzles! They should be searching for keys Tongue

that would be an awesome scene.

jill and leon fleeing from zombies, getting to a door. "damn it, do you have a key with an armor plate on the backside?!!"

Definately! I'd kill to see that... and so would the zombies i expect *Awaits huge laugh*

*Tumbleweed*

Anyways... Resident Evil 2 was fairly hyped up compared to the resultant film, where as Resident Evil wasnt really hyped whatsoever, and it recieved good enough box office ratings to warrant a sequel. So something was right in the first place, and lets hope the same happens with the next 2 ^_^

No, not another RE movie, the last one before Apocalypse was terrible. No relevance to the original games, I don't mind big games being turned into movies (sell-out :P) but if you do that, better make it damn good.

sadly there is no need to make them damn good.
point is not to make a good movie for the gamers, but actually attract the casual moviewatchers towards the game.

also, the budget is usually very small, so you'll always see so so effects, a rushed script, cheesy dialogue and a generic story to back a few facts that they ripped out of the game up (like character name and design...).

is there any game-related movie so far that honestly could be labeled better than so-so? i dont recall anyone, right now..

Agreed, still, you migth as well change the entire summary of the game (which they are doing) and stick it to that. Might as well re-name the movie from Resident Evil to.. 'Bob' and you'll still have the irrelevant story of RE.

this summer! in your cinema! the new movie! Bob!!

i really wonder whats the problem with game-based movies. i mean there are tons of really good comic-based movies out there. sure, some that suck, as well. still, not that 'mediocre' down to 'bad' stuff they destile out of game-story.
