opinions on female game characters

Technically, people will argue that they are only video games, which were made to portray things of fantasy and not reality. Halo for instance (not really about slutty characters but..), no one in real life can take like 200 rounds to their body and somehow go to cover or grab a health pack. I, personally, don't care about what the game characters look like since I don't play games like GTA or Leisure Larry etc. PSO is just a fantasy RPG, it wasn't really designed to be accurate with modern society and standards. I mean, has anyone seen Dark Falz in your neighbourhood alley recently ? Perhaps you can take stabs at GTA (games like that) which were designed for the sole reason of using of drugs and women for no real entertaining value (imo, some enjoy those games). All these games you guys complain about were made so people could escape societies rules and morals. No one says you have to go out and buy them. The problem is that it affects people, even if they don't play them or look at them. I think the bottom like is that they are fake. It's not like they are trying to make historical representations of what our society looks like.

firstly ill say this stereotypes and subjective media exist everywhere if you dont wish to be exposed to anything possibly offensive you should take residence in a cave and cease all contact with the outside world. Now onto the subject of videogames being a pretty much neutral heterosexual male ill say this which will probably get me flamed by the females on sight but normally i always take up for you all. First the majority of videogame designers out there are males meaning two things one they naturally want to design a game that suits their own tastes could be the developmental team on capcom making scary ass resident evil games or the good ole boys at rockstar pumping out new gta's faster than most shotguns do shells or two they will make games that they feel appeal to other males out there like themselves the guys who made extreme beach volleyball even said this is for all the other men out there who are fans of the slim beautiful female figure. The thing is we as consumers have the right not to buy anything that doesnt suit our personal tastes for most women this means not buying games in which women are objectified and for your "COMMON" male this means buying games where you shoot shit use cheat codes and catch the occasional sneakpeak at a girl or two. Me just being a gamer in general i buy anything that catches my attention annoying all hype both good and bad about it like the guy who developed gta 3 said i dont think anyone paid fifty dollars to watch a car bounce up and down for twenty seconds. Now its not fair that the videogame industry leans solely towards men but one must realize for how long a time men sustained it there was a time in recent history where women just were not interested in games so of course this form of media as a whole has started to lean towards male fantasies wants needs and what have you . So while its not right it is to be expected even now the video game community is only comprised of a small amount of women. My suggestion go out and get your other female friends into game numbers cant be ignored the more voices you have the farther they carry. Now in response to a few members post about videogames further perpetuating the stereotype of what a good or "pretty " woman should be ill say this. In every culter counter culture genre and sub genre there are expectations and stereotypes be it based of race religion or gender the media portrays certain things about a group of individuals at any time while its disheartening to have teen stars like lindsay lohan and brittany spears saying you have to weight 110 lbs and have a double d cup for boys to like you its a part of society and as long as there are men who buy into it and females as well they will keep a firm foothold in our lives all i can say is be a strong enough person to say to hell with any perceptions others have of you or any opinions of what they think you should be. Well that was my rant been ages since i had one :bandit:

Oh well... seeing as this is an opinion argument, I don't really feel I have the right to critisize anyone's opinion. I mean it's your OPINION. Meaning it matters to you, and you don't care what anyone else says. So go ahead and have your opinions everyone, I've already displayed mine, so now other people can display theirs. Really this thread is getting more of an idea on what the common thought towards it is.

as do i archer i guess i just have a jaded view on somethings given my own personal situations ive always been a firm believer that if youre secure with yourself others pereptions or forcings of them wont affect you which is why i dont understand why people get so riled up about videogames hell im black but i know im nothing like anything out of grand theft auto san andreas therefor i dont let the portrayals of people with my skin color therein bother me

Like I said, you have your opinions and I respect that, as well as any others. Sure I may dis-agree, but it's your opinion so what I say shouldn't matter. Now if everyone thought this way... discrimination may not happen quite so often, but that will never happen.

Actually I never fully read yours . I tried, but that text colour in such a massive blob of text makes my eyes buggy trying to read it... need more paragraphs !
