Characters of PSO

Well it's only obvious that most people will vote for their own characters. I for one usually have a LOT more fondness for somebody that I designed myself than somebody I didn't design. I really value characters and things like that, sort of giving a kind of depth to things that isn't really crucial but makes everthing fun anyway. It's why I actually get into storylines and such. Besides, my HUmar pwns so I voted for him. XP

You ask me to name the NPCs I like, though, I guess I could say a few things once I look past the generic AI and the fact that even though they out level me by about 50, they still drag around weapons that allow them to do about 35 damage at the most and never Resta/Anti me when I need it. x.x

My first choice... Would probably have to be that Jean Carlo Montague guy. No doubt about it I'd like to sneak up behind him, push his hat off, and run away giggling stupidly, but as a character I admire his design. Not his physical design, as in how he looks (FOnewms just look weird to me), but as a character. I never would have expected some HUGELY famous scientist dude who's partially responsible for the technology Mags and androids to be all... Like he is. The "im a jeenius lol" thing gets somewhat old after you go through "Soul of Steel" a couple times, which is... Basically why I just wanna flick that dweeby hat of his right off his head.

The second has got to be Elly. I seem to have a thing for the Newman NPCs, but... I dunno. They're just good characters. Somewhere between the "Holy crap are you okay?" after the Gal Gryphon nearly stomped me flat and the fact that we took turns getting killed in my first run through "Seat of the Heart" (sans subplot), I began to think to myself, "This chick's alright." It's almost as though you go through Episode II with her, since the storyline of that one is right in your freaking face and she's the one relaying it to you somewhat. *brain fizzles out right about... now*

Though she's not on the list, I have this huge fondness for Red Ring Rico. Maybe it's because she was way smarter than me on her first run through Episode I. oO;

And yes, there are a few who aren't on the list, but that's what the "Other" option on the bottom is for. XP

I didn't design properly design the character I tend to use - I made Nei from PSII in PSO, and I am playing her as exactly the same character. I was tempted to make Neifirst, and I still may. Noah, from PSI and PSII (named Lutz though), was also transferred across...

Still, my favourite character would have to be Dr Osto.

When you realise the full extent to his character and what he actually does, you can root for the real bad guy... (If you want me to try to explain, but don't know where to look, PM me.)

Unfortunately, you never meet him in the game.

Rico and Flowen were a bit boring. I didn't really want to find them.

However, I would not pick Elly because she is even more forgetful than Bernie (who forgets his own name... "My name's Barnie.") Even if you complete her quest, she will not recognise you in Ep2. Silly FOnewearl. You can't even cast any spells. And what's with the handgun? You're worse than Nol.

Elly uses Barta and Varista.

Donoph casts Gifoie.
Bernie casts Foie.
Matha casts Foie.
The Lost Bride Fomarl does Barta.
Alicia uses Barta, and Gibarta. ( :O )
Montague casts Foie.
That's all I can recall right now.

Elly's useful because she can attract the monsters away from you.

True, that's all I use Mome for. It can get quite annoying though if you're an android and Elly runs out of Trimates... It happened to me today with Shino. And she died, I didn't have enough Star Atomizers.

The NPC's don't even make good sheilds from enemies. The most useful thing they've ever done for me is Anti... but to get that to work, you have to get away from all the enemies first. The Forces don't even use Reverser when you die. Come on, they could atleast do that, couldn't they?

If they had the spell, I'm sure they could.


They don't make good shields, but it's another person that the enemies can attack, and usually, they go for whoever's closer.

Bernie does look pretty cool, but in Normal mode he monopolises on the Experience!

And in the higher difficulty settings, the NPCs are much much weaker than you'd like.

In the Mines, the NPCs are great for drawing the Gillchic's lasers...
