some emulators use "dos", but sometimes you don't have sound, errors apear, or simply you can't play,......others emulators use windows, easy to work with, and normaly work.

Emulators piss me off majority of the time, maybe that's because I don't know how to work them most of the time...I'll have my friend show me...and try that..

it's easy, you just click on the menu and chose open rom.......it's like any other program. at least my is like that.
