if you have a dial-up modem then you need to connect it to a phone jack

Im not gonna lie to you Cloud, the chances of meeting a 'Hacker' on Phantasy Star Online while playing is probabily pretty high unfortunately. Although whether they hacked the item or were just given the items they used unaware of their status is another fact. Theres also the matter of cheating though using an Action Replay which again is pretty much the same thing!

But its not all bad, meeting up with good ol Legitimate players like me wont spoil your game. Just by simply asking the other players while online will usually get you an honest response.

Again, (Not that im tryin to put you of playing online) you could find the game may freeze occasionally while playing online which could possibly make your characters items apart from those equipped dissappear, but there are precautions you can take to minimise the damage, but dont worry, it shouldnt happen THAT often!

Trust me, when you start playing online, it does honestly open the game up a LOT, and you'll enjoy it, despite the amount of cheating going on throughout!

Also like Phantom_RAcast said, if you've got a Dial-Up modem like i have, you'll just simply need to connect the phone cord into a Phone jack! Depending on the Phone jack though you may need to buy an adapter to make the cord fit into the jack, but they dont cost much, i had to get one, it just depends on which BT phone jack you've got! Could sound confusing, but its not, its probabily just the way ive put it!

OK. I'd first like to correct Lee. The chance of meeting a HACKER online is very small. The chance you meet a DUPER is (sadly) very high. There is a difference.

You can use two methods to find people. To find someone anywhere, you need a guild card. They must send it to you, and you must send yours to them, if you want them to mail you. Guild cards show you if the person is online on any ships. You can mail them from anywhere.
The other way, is ship specific (it only affects the ship you are on). It's called choice search. But the person has to have it turned on for you to see them. You can mail anyone that appears on the list. It's a good way to quickly search for people around your level, to see if they want to train.

For broadband, the basic setup is BBA for GC, and a cable. You need to know various settings if the automatic settings don't work first time. You are recommended to get a router, to share you broadband connection with a PC, but they cost a lot of money.

If you have the worst type of FSOD, FSOD-X as it's known, then yes. All your PSO files will be deleted. There is a method that might work to recover your files, but I've never tried it, so I can't say. You are more likely to get FSOD, which with some precautions, will stop any damage done to you from it.

As Lee said, once you start online, you won't stop. I've had PSO for years now and haven't looked back Smile.
