About three years ago Nintendo sold rare to Microsoft for $375 million dollars. The relations between Rare and Nintendo were faultering and I think Nintendo got a great deal after seeing what Rare has actually made these past 3 years. Grabbed by the Ghoulies was pretty awful, Conker: Live and Reloaded was a beefed up port of the N64 version and Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero and the new Killer Instinct are all getting pushed further into the future. If you want any more details here's the old IGN article about the sale.

I see...
I don't know how their relationship dwindled, I;m confused. RARE made legendary games with Nintendo. I only just skimmecd the article but obviously they aren't going to tell you exacly what happend between them are they? Quite frankly I'm now fuming at Nintendo, but... Quote:Microsoft's dedication and commitment to game creators, research and development, and to gaming innovation made Looking at that makes me want to laugh. Microsoft just enterd the gameing industry for more money. HA they will need rare, because I've mainly seen other console titles on the X box, I rarley have heard exlusive (don;t count halo) ones that are good. If only Nintneod and rare were still together. Quote:them the obvious partner to take Rare into the future." HAHA.... morons.. Maybe I'm overexadurating, but I've been a nintendo fan sicne I was 5 years old! I think I hate both companies now

There there Ria, it's been a long long time since that took place, and many have had to live with it. It still makes me sick too, but makes me wonder "WTF" when i see Rare developing GameBoy Advance games and now recently opening a brand new department to make NintendoDS games!
Microsoft tried to make themselves the PWN'ers but i think in the end, they just ended up getting PWN'd Grabbed by the Ghoulies & Conker... where as Rare could have done so much more if they were still working alongside Nintendo, after pretty much having to 'can' all the games they already had under development and start from scratch. We'd be playing on Perfect Dark now, aswell as probabily other classic franchises like Banjo Kazooie, or that Donkey Kong Racing they had in development! ![]() Life goes on though...

Phantom_RAcast Wrote:Ignorant statement alert! So your saying that Nintendo isnt in the gameing industry for money? *rolls eyes* I'm not that stupid, money makes the world go round. Microsoft has money, it owns windows for chrisakes. They are just been more greedy. Quote:Microsoft Xbox: 19,900,000 Jeez, they didn't beat them by that much. And don't you think that's a little late really? Sales from launch date would be more important... I dred what Perfect Dark zero is going to be like, and if killer instinct 3 is real omg I'll kill them if they mess it up, microsost that is. Killer instict's characters are Nintendo's so it should appear on the revolution. Don't you think by looking at RARE's 2 games on the X box means Microsoft is S*** at games really? Oh and I must laugh, I read an X box mag and they are so full of themselves for having RARE. Like zomg we own RARE we rule. Oh and umm why the hell did Nintendo sell RARE to a rival company? You want us to buy X boxes now Nintendo? Nice one!

Well Nintendo never really owned Rare in the first place, Rareware was just a 3rd party who decided to make everything for Nintendo-side consoles, probabily because most of their games best fit the target audience Nintendo had gained. Nintendo just simply didn't buy them when the time came. According to them, there was nothing new that Rare had to give to Nintendo so they weren't gonna fork over wads of cash to keep them there.
Phantom RAcast Wrote:Microsoft Xbox: 19,900,000Haha! Microsoft definately got PWN'd! Is that extra little bit worth $375 million Microsoft paid? Nah, they're still around $200m down! Besides, how many of those sales came from Conker: Live & Reloaded and Grabbed by the Ghoulies anyways?
