If you want to play just the sonic team quests, that is fine.
I don't mind what quests we play as i enjoy them all.

The thing is, it is *BB* and many others who do have a problem with it. >_>

If someone sees himself as less legit than me because of his own actions, that is no fault of mine, but that person's own feelings of illegitimacy.

However, WN, I think the saying "those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind" comes to mind here. I'm well aware that you cast a raised eyebrow at some of my items (particularly some trades... to say nothing of when we discuss new practices), but I don't particularly care (you realize this is probably half the reason some people on Scht tend to keep you at arm's length, right? ).

Let's take a look at some items of mine:
My S-Parts 2.01 - I found it with Loaded Die by freak chance in the normal mines, long ago. I don't think I ever backed it up. I don't see how anyone can call this illegit.

Gorgotron's Red Mechgun - Hunted by Will before ever getting online... but then the day before I got online, I backed it up along with the bulk of my weapons. It still exists today thanks to those backups. Who would call this illegit? A few... >_>

Will's Frozen Shooter (0/15/0/0/35) - Piped, though the hit% on it was freak chance (I was just going for a normal FS at the time). Some people would call this illegit, too.

KillCount's Flight Cutter - Was lost in cardwipe as the only non-backed-up rare I cared about. Eventually I got it back from someone who created/duped one (I don't remember which) with the same percents. Really this is no different from backing up things.

My Bringer's Rifle - Was traded away. I eventually learned that the trade had been a scam, and so I "backtraded" the items myself (since the other guy lost his PSO disc) by destroying it and reclaiming the Bringer's through the same method as the Flight Cutter above.

Many, many traded items - From all kinds of people now... there's no way I could remember them all. Even you can't say a weapon is legit with 100% certainty when it's a trade.

Ignition's 30 hit Final Impact - Was obtained from the SS Hildetorr, thus, is an SL-only item (for those who wonder/care, SL refers to something I discuss on my site; but that discussion doesn't really belong here).

The Samba Maracas in Loaded Die's Bank - A dupe, plain and simple. I got it one day when I walked in someone handing them out, but I took one anyway and we had a fun time getting pictures of them in the caves (we didn't use them on anything, either). Then I put them away, and I never use them for obvious reasons. This is the only one of the items I listed that I consider illegit... because really, I can't think of a single person who would say this WOULD be legit.



My point is that every item tells its own story, and many of them can be called legit by half the population and illegit by the other half. Sometimes it's enough to make you want to say "f@#$ this s%^&" and silence any bickering like the Scht mods do (which is why I understand where they're coming from). But the sooner you get over the fact that there will always be complainers in the world (more specifically, in YOUR world), the more pointless drama you can avoid.

That's how I look at it, anyway.

Let me be very clear about the subject.

1) Any sort of discussion regarding unofficial servers is strictly prohibited.
2) Playing on those servers is not illegit, it's illegal.
3) By no way can you say that you "play the game how it is supposed to be played" if you are not on the offical servers.

If I see another user having a go at Sonic4997v3 (whose post makes a lot more sense than any of yours), I'll hand out warnings. Sonic4997v3 is not an "anal legit", he's just a person with enough decency and respect to abide by the law.
Playing on unofficial servers is cheating, no matter how you try to put it, have the honesty to admit it.

I'll leave this open, but I have a feeling it won't be for long.

I would suggest just closing it. This thread has turned into exactly the same debate this entire forum has always invited. "What is illegit?"

Let's make this clear, illegit is doing something the PSO Terms of Service says you may not do. This includes the duping of items, for backups or otherwise. Hence backups are illegit. I understand FSOD would make people do this, but the moment you do something that the ToS does not say you may do, you become illegit.

You can not be too legit, there is a legit player and then there is an illegit player. There are no levels, even though there are many different opinions. In the words of Kefka, "Read the Rules".

Sonic4997v3 is not an "anal legit", he's just a person with enough decency and respect to abide by the law.

1) I met him playing on the unofficial servers, and he is the one who suggested doing the PSOBB quest on that server. (His sister is the one who made a fuss about me not wanting too.)
2) Sorry if it seemed I was taking a go at him, but it is really more of his sister. Not him. >.>

I will say the following and then leave this thread for good, as that's the best thing to do anyway:

1. "Illegal" is all-too-often used as a hononym for "immoral." Look at which party (Scht or ST) patched FSOD, and which did not. Then think about which one is which.

2. You can write something up a million times, but that doesn't mean it's an absolute. Gameplay methods and practices in PSO (and indeed, every game out there) are completely relative to the person. End of story.

3. For those of you on BB who were happy to leave the "ebil haXx0rz" behind: I can tell you with 100% certainty that they were just as happy to see you go.

You make the mistake of taking this on a personal level.

This isn't personal, playing on a private server is illegal, no word can make it right. Yeah Schtchak has his servers patched better than ST, for the Gamecube, that does not make it right in any way.

The mere fact of playing on illegal servers makes you the same as FSODers and the kind, live with it, or abide by the law, it's that simple.
