Can't advance in offline play

I've currently started playing the offline mode and trying to do the quests on my own. The problem is that The Principal is saying I'm in the underground ruins still, maybe because me and a room mate in multi-mode have beat the game and play on Hard regularly, but when I go to solo mode and play I have access only to the forest. I beat the dragon, and even hit the first of three towers in that mode, and I can't advance further. I still only have access to forest. Does anyone know how to either A) Reset my character's quests entirely so I can advance from the forest, or know this problem and a workaround/fix?

after completing the forest in single player, talk to the principle right away, should should then be able to enter the caves
on multiplayer, the areas available will be the same as the areas available on single player of the first player, upon startup, and just playing through those will unlock the next one.

I did exactly what you said, I went through the forest and everything but it didn't work. The principal STILL says stuff about the underground ruins and pioneer 1. So, I've also been to episode one, if that matters? I can not in solo play advance beyond the Forest areas.

If you've completed the underground ruins you should have a choice of difficulty when you start up. Otherwise you haven't done them.

The last comments don't really apply to the difficulty I am having. I attempt to beat the Forest, cause that's all my character has access to right now in Offline mode. I beat them, and then I can not GO ANYWHERE ELSE. There's no caves options. I play 'online' and I can go all the way to the ruins and play there just fine, but in offline mode I can not. I'm not the only person who's had this problem (from my forum searching) and as of yet I don't see anyone who's solved the problem. It seems like a glitch.

Does seem really odd. Can you tell us exactly what you do right from choosing your character?

Hmm... so you play online you say... by any chance did you download "Towards the Future" and play through it entirely? That particular quest causes a bug where the game will THINK you've completed all of the stages, even though you haven't. That's why it's said not to complete that quest offline until you've cleared every stage, otherwise the only way to fix the problem is to delete your character.

the only way I can think of is wat the guy said earlier, choose ur character, choose which mode, then, when u complete forest and beat the dragon, go immediately to the principal when u get bak, and talk to him, then cave will be open, I know because wats happened 2 u is wat happened 2 me, so I just talked 2 every1 and when I talked 2 him it worked

I've tried talking to the principal, and it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure I'm in a bug, and I can't get out. Which is okay cause I only ever play the game multiplayer.
